
MOOD:
You must have a positive attitude to study effectively.
Study in a quiet, organized environment.
UNDERSTAND:
Make sure your assignment or task is clear from the beginning.
Group information into smaller units that are easier to comprehend and understand.
Mark any information you do not understand in a particular unit.
RECALL:
After studying, put what you have learned into your own words. Being able to summarize information in your own words is an indication of genuine understanding.
DIGEST:
Go back to what you did not understand and read it through again.
Try to relate the information to what you already understand.
Consult another source or your teacher if you still cannot understand.
EXPAND:
Ask questions about the material you are studying.
If you speak to the author, what questions would you ask or what criticism would you offer?
How can you apply the information to what interests you?
How can you make this information interesting and understandable to your classmates?
REVIEW:
Go over the material you have covered.
